Last Day of the Month
The kids had been sick all week, on and off, but Adam became intent on leaving the house. Friday was the last day of the month...the day I take the kids and pay the tipping fee at the landfill in Volney.
The morning already delayed because of Abbey's tempermeant and Adam's missing Mr. Pricklepants (all week, Jessie was missing from his little Toy Story figurines and I had just said to myself Oh she must be gone for good, when Adam suddenly produced her...only to begin searchingly madly for Mr. Pricklepants).
I pulled into Dunkin' Donuts for some nice caffeine...I mean an iced latte....and Adam said Muffin!! The last couple of times I've gone to a DD or to Tim Horton's, that's what he's asked for with enthusiasm. Sure, the three of split a chocolate chip muffin. Head out to the office. And just in time because Adam has been talking about Daddy all morning. We drove Daddy around the block so the kids could get their Dad fix and went out to the dump in Volney to drop off the tipping fee. The kids feel super comfortable there, too comfortable, actually. They feel they have the right to walk into any of the offices and sit at the desk, probably because at one point or another they had been invited to each office at some point.
The lady I hand the check to so she had a headache as my son ran into her office and beelined for her stereo. Got it. No chatting today. I said hi to the other two ladies, but Abbey was...throwing a tantrum because I stopped her when she started running into the office of the director. We were out of there. I questioned my decision to take them to Target if Abbey was miserable. But the minute we walked outside, cute adorable Abbey was back. So armed with some coupons and the desire to get a few things for Easter, I headed to Clay.
It was about noon, so I figured I'd use the food bar at the store. Kids always love that. I always did, too. Chicken nuggets, apple slices and chocolate milk. Gourmet for kids.
Abbey so into the apple while we waited for the chicken. I gave Adam the chocolate milk with a straw. Yeah, it took one minute before it was dumped on him. I pourd the rest into his cup. He seems fine with it. Here he is pointing out to me that the nuggets came in a boxxxxx. He sounds out the X because that's how it is in our phonics song. Cute.
Abbey and my hand. Adam having a grand old time. We actually ended up being the store for a quite a while. I started off letting Adam walk, but it wasn't long before he was in the basket of the cart. They did really, really, well. Mostly. At one point, Adam kept standing up and he was saying GET DOWN GET DOWN. And I said SIT. DOWN. Then he yelled, in just the right way so it echoed through out the store "JESUS CHRIST" and sat down. I don't embarrass easily. I was embarrassed.
Other than that, they were great. Especially since I dragged them through the chocolate bunny aisle and they didn't even act up. Poor Adam at the end was covered in stuff though and at the checkout, as he told everyone he was DONE. DONE. DONE. So was I!
I was trying to do some coupons, which is harder than you might think with toddlers as I searched for the right items. But between manufactures and Target coupons, I saved fifty bucks. I was kind of proud. Except I forgot to hand her a coupon worth a dollar in the commotion. Can't win everything, I guess!

I can see how it would just seem easier to stay home with toddlers, but you need to venture out every once in awhile and figure it out. Glad this went well.
