Sometimes, I have issues with realizing how much my kids can do. I don't want to be a helicopter parent or overprotective. I just don't think about. At the beginning of the summer, it occurred to me that I should teach Adam how to put on his shoes and it was past time. Turns out, he didn't need to be taught. He already knew.

Still needs a little help with what foot they go on.
Here's Adam with his hero, Darth Vadar (love this shot). And one of his potty trainers. (He still hits the bottom after he goes!) After eight months, Adam has come a long way, even overcoming some hurdles recently. I am confident he'll be fine in pre-school because he doesn't have accidents. He just may hold it until he comes home. He's been taking more initiative and not having to be told to go all the time, which is great. And I love the proud little gait he does around the dining room when he feels accomplished. Often times, he'll still say "Don't like the potty" when we tell him to use it, but he mostly does. Like curly bear says on Elmo's Potty Time video "So Big!" And holds her arms out. Adam likes to say that, too. I don't have to tell you how cute that is. |

And speaking of So Big, here's a shot of Daddy and Elmo (which he still calls himself) on Memorial Day. We went to the zoo during the weekend, but on the holiday, we cooked out. It was blazing hot, but Todd knows how much I like to grill, especially for the summer holidays, so he did it for me. Adam joined him outside, sliding his sun glasses on before going out. I see a tunnel into the future of father and son in front a grill each Memorial Day rolling their eyes because Mommy wants her grilled steak. This, my friends, is an image I hold dear.
So glad the potty is a breeze now. That will certainly lighten some of your workload and expenses. MMmmm....steak sounds good.
