Seneca Park Zoo Take One

Memorial Day Weekend we took our first trip to the Seneca Park Zoo in Rochester.  We loved it.  Good thing, because Todd bought a membership as we were walking in :)  This photo isn't quite right as we're walking in, but I still like something about it.  We got there in under an hour and a half.

The first building had gorillas and Adam was in love.  Especially when it pooped in front of him.  MONKEY POOPED!  He was THRILLED.  He talked about it for days, still occasionally bringing it up.
He got pretty close, but this is the best picture I could get.  We really liked how close we could get to the animals at this zoo compared to Syracuse.
Look Daddy MONKEY!!
Adam was thrilled when he saw this cut out.  BUCK WILD MOMMY!!  (that's the weasel in Ice Age 3).  Cute.
Exciting to see Rhinos.
Bald Eagles.  A sign explained that theses were injured and were unable to fly off.  There was a little walk through with a splash through, but after our experience at Salmon River Falls, much to Abbey's chagrin, we were not going to let them go through.  Sorry kid!
And the playground!  Abbey was SO excited!
Love this shot.
My little A-team.
The indoor area included a sea otter environment that appeared to have ...no sea otters.
Abbey kept running around of course but Adam went through each animal.  LOOK MOM, it's Master Uguay!  (the turtle in Kung Fu Panda.  Yes, adam loves movies.  And he thinks it's funny to label real animals after characters.  He gets this twinkle in his eye.)
Outside and another play area.  Adam loved this "Abbey-gator" but he may look really big on it :)
This was cute.  She started through it, he got in, too then they raced each other.
Whew!  A long walk to the Safari area.  Adam was sooooo tired.  He asked for Abbey's stroller.  We stopped to get some fries as we were there a lot longer than we had planned and snacks weren't enough.  They needed the break.
Back out of the Safari area and we saw the Polar Bear and Adam's other favorite the Sea Lions.  He still regularly talks about Sea Lions.  There was an indoor area where you could view them swimming and ...wait for it...one pooped in front of him.  He couldn't have been more thrilled.  When we walked around to the other side outside, he just loved standing there watching them.  This was our view.
The penguin area.  They were kind of far away.   And Abbey's main goal was to try and climb in.  I'm not joking.  She tried REALLY hard to get in there and go swimming.  It was so cute when we got to the tank Adam said HI SKIPPER (the head penguin of Madagascar).
Tired out Adam.  This NEVER happens.  I mean, we haven't been able to get him a stroller for years,
Another play area.  LOVE this picture.  As we were leaving, Adam heard us discuss we were back to the monkeys.  Somehow we got talked back into seeing the monkeys again.  MONKEY POOP?  No, Adam, he won't poop on command.
So we hit up Red Robin on our way home after Abbey slept for like five minutes.  We had gone once before and liked it.  I don't usually like blurry pictures, but I liked this one.  Adam and his Daddy.
After eating, Adam talked his Daddy into trying the "claw" machine.  He's obsessed with them because of Toy Story of course "THE CLAW".
Daddy tried...
Even Abbey got into the action.  Time to go home.  We had a great day and a wonderful time.  Abbey may not have been as obsessed with the animals as Adam, but she really liked the birds and the play areas got her so excited.  It was so fun to watch them have a blast.  After that, Adam came home and set up a zoo all over.  He renamed one of his toys "sea lion", which still holds the name.  He points to animals and says "see it!" like we did with him.  Abbey does it, too, with Todd's bird statues in the kitchen :)

  1. The kiddos really seem to love the zoo.....and their parents. Maybe seeing monkeys do their business helped encourage Adam to mimic them in the potty!
