Last month, when Abbey was sick, I decided after a few days that a change of scenery would be good. Since I had something to return to Lane Bryant, I headed up to Carousel. I figured one errand and a trip to the Disney Store would be fine, right? Just like last time, she started SCREAMING the minute I walked into Lane Bryant. She was fine as we walked through Macy's, loved the corridor but was VERY upset in there and forget if I made the motion to go to another store. We got to the Disney Store and she was mesmerized by the window so I thought OK let's head in there and see how she does. She was good for about five minutes. Then she started again. Adam started giving her toys to hold to cheer her up, which was cute, but I made it clear to them both, as I always do, the stuff was for holding and maybe we'd pick one. Adam had a bit of a breakdown about that at the register. While Abbey was having a breakdown. OK, so maybe that expectation is mean at the Disney Store. I had gone there to look at the Clearance clothes, but that didn't really happen. I did grab a clearance Minnie bathing suit, but that was it.
I let him hold two clearance Toy Story toys and when we got out of there, I told him he could have one and the other was for Abbey. He gave her "sparkles" which is actually Buttercup the unicorn. Abbey had stopped screaming the minute we stepped out. She was very happy to get Sparkles and sleeps with him now. I officially get it. First, don't take Abbey out when she isn't feeling well. Second, she hates closed in and crowded spaces especially when they are hot. Third, don't expect kids not to want to leave the Disney Store without something at this age. I guess that's just kind of mean!
And that same day, Adam started acting out Humpty Dumpty, I've mentioned he's obsessed with this before. He sits up there and throws himself to the floor. I have put a bit of a stop to it, but it cracks me up how much he loves this story. Just this morning, he had turned Mr. Potato Head into Humpty.
Poor Abbey. She didn't want to be stuck in an aisle...she wanted to watch people in the hall and see things.
