Abbey...Growing up TOO Fast!

Abbey will be turning 18 months next week. She is growing up SO fast. She was the tiniest cutest and then loudest little newborn and then baby and then one day, she skipped right to toddler. She walked for the first time on New Year's, to her daddy of course.
Then after her first birthday, she just started looking more and more grown up! She did all the milestones early, including escaping from her crib the day she turned 15 months and then her playpen a month later and the her playpen IN the crib. I had to get a tent and ZIP her in so she didn't hop out and meet me at the door after tearing apart her room and making the changing table drawers stairs. SIGH. And tjem, on July 21, we put Abbey in a big girl car seat, trading in the one she used since she was a baby and faced backwards for a big kid seat. That's my girl. We put her in and drove to Syracuse for dinner with Holly and she fussed a bit about it but was fine the next time we put her in. This is my most recent picture of her, taken last week at Chaumont when she was having the time of her life running around and "riding" an overturned kayak. The thing is, she's still so huggable and cute. Love how when it's nap time or bed time and she gets her monkey blanket and her bottle and stands next to my rocker recliner in the living room. Love that she's such a monkey (as crazy as she drives me) and can put her foot as high as her head to climb up or OUT of anything. Love the twinkle in her eye as she grabs something she isn't supposed to have and runs, looking over her shoulder to see if she's being followed and then she'll throw away the evidence before you catch her. She frustrates us with her taking off in public and outside but we loved that she has such a adventurous and independent spirit. Her tantrums are going to be legendary, but I love how with her personality she can just shake it off. She gets over it and moves on. God Bless Her wish I could! Check out her adorable gap tooth grin...she has about 10 teeth so far. These photos make me feel like I have a preview of what she's going to look like in ten years. And the curls! Everywhere I go, people can't help but comment on the curls. They fit her personality. Adorable, wild, unique and clever. It's hard to watch them grow up so fast, the cliche of time slipping through my fingers but at the same time it is so exciting to see them turn into people with personalities, likes and dislikes and big hearts. I want to pause time, but at the same time I can't wait to see where they go with their lives. See her tongue sticking out?? She was having the time of her life with Bethany's kids at McDonalds's. She loves playing with big kids and just loves...having fun...I don't know how else to put it. Abbey adores her big brother and her Daddy coming home is the event of the day. She loves shoes, always fishing them out and plopping her butt down and sticking her feet out so we put them on. She twirls her dresses and loves to dance, right now to RIO. That movie comes on and the opening song starts and she can't help herself...even moving her legs if she's sitting down...the other night she was so wound up she ran around singing along "dadada" and trying to do somersaults. Here she is the day we went to Harborfest, sneaking up on the table as usual. This is so her...girlie and half a tomboy at once! I pray for my daughter that she keeps her joy and confidence and I just love her so much. If I'm away from her and I hear a little girl, I just want to go home and kiss those cheeks and tickler her belly to get that grin. But can you slow down a LITTLE Miss Abigail!?

PS Her Daddy wants to add that his favorite thing is that he'll point at her, something his done for months, and she points back and laughs, but she's always pointing in the wrong direction.

  1. She'll be in a hurry until she hits our age. Then, she'll slow down. Good luck with that. Beautiful baby girl. Very sure of what she wants. I hope she keeps that spirit too!
