Cayuga County Fair//July 9
The kids loved the Oswego County Fair so much, we decided to see if we could find another fair with rides for them the next weekend. So we headed towards Weedsport and the Cayuga County Fair. When we pulled in, we knew right away that is wasn't quite the scale of the Oz county fair. The parking lot wasn't too full. So we headed in and walked around a bit. We went into a barn and the kids watched a lamb being shaved and then we looked for lunch and ended up with more fire barn food, this time a chicken dinner. Would our kids eat it? No. Not even the fruity pebbles desert square, but what else is new? They had their eyes on the ride area and couldn't wait for us to walk over. It was smaller with less options for Abbey, only two really, and a lot more expensive. But, of course, we had to give it a whirl. This canoe ride was different than anything they had tried the week before and they were very excited to get in, though you wouldn't be able to tell looking at their faces!
They had a hard time keeping their hands in like you're supposed, to especially Adam but stayed seated! Cute Abbey...
Daddy getting them out...notice Abbey's shoe-less foot? She had been so excited to get in, she had lost it and I was hanging onto it!! We went back to this ride on our way out btw for one more whirl, and the ride operator was much less friendly and they only got to go around twice...wtf?
We asked Adam what he wanted to do...and he picked this ride. At first he was serious and the operator was like, I don't think he likes it. But I knew he did and soon he couldn't help but smile :) Love this picture.
We kept going by the roller coaster, the one he liked so much the week before but when we asked him if he wanted to do it, he'd say no! He wanted to go in the big kid ride across the way. Finally he said he did.
He liked it a lot, but the lady only let it go around twice, despite the fact he was the ONLY kid around! He looked so disappointed when it stopped.
We went on the boat ride one more time on our way out, but that guy cut it down to two go-abouts, too. It was a lot more expensive than the Oz fair and had less stuff with only two rides for Abbey...the boats and the carousel (which they LOVED this time...twice each!). We stopped and got them fries at Arby's on the way home since we didn't pass any at the fair. Oswego knows how to do it's fairs lol. And the kids had fun! And loved doing something together as a family!

Yeah...I'm actually quite familiar with the county fairgrounds in Weedsport, Sandy Creek, and Watertown. I'm not sure what that says about me.
