Rainy Day in Chaumont

On Tuesday we went up to see Pam in Chaumont, one of my favorite places. We hadn't seen her since before Christmas so despite the forecast, I headed up there. It started to rain as I left, but I figured kids could play in the sprinkles. After a pretty uneventful ride up (besides the ten minute wait while they cleared a branch out of the road, we arrived and five minutes later it started to sprinkle. Ten minutes more and it started to downpour. And it never stopped. Pam had gotten them each a truck and a Sesame Street toy that they loved and Mrs. Rusho pulled out the bubbles. As you can see...they were a BIG hit. I usually hate blurry pictures but I liked this one of them together getting so excited! Don't you love how Adam's nose crinkles up when he's happy? Little Abbey was in awe. This picture is my favorite of the day. And Adam has been so funny lately. The day before, we were drawing the sun in the driveway, so he was having fun carrying this around saying "sun". He held it up for Mrs. R. because he wanted the sun to have bubbles. He'd say "SUN!" and crack-up. Oh, my boy. After lunch, Adam ran to me with the bottle again but it was so shook up I couldn't get the bubbles to go. Needless to say, my kids were a bit unimpressed with me :)

Before we left, I decided it would be a good idea to let the kids run around in the rain and get out some energy. They loved it, especially Abbey. It was not sprinkling; it was pouring! She eventually took off down the road (private) as fast as she could, her curls bouncing, her little legs pumping the orange and pink flowers on her shirt a blur. Pam caught up with her two cottages away. She wasn't happy about being dragged inside to get dressed to go home! That girl loves to take off! Despite the rain, it was a nice visit. Love Chaumont any weather.

  1. It is so nice that you can go up during the week. It gives you a nice little day-trip as a family. Plus, I like the idea of kids experience camping, even if it is in a small dose.

  2. They did well for being stuck on the porch while it rained all afternoon. Can't say I blame them for not wanting to come in from playing in the rain- it can be a lot of fun!!
