Abbey's Appetite...Size has Nothing to Do With It!

Abbey turned 6 months on August 24th and at her 6 month doctor appointment this past Tuesday, she weighed in at 15 lbs 9oz and was 25 inches....at 25th percentile. (Of course, her head circumference is 90th, just like Adam. They come from a long line of large headed people :) Officially, a little peanut. But on that same morning...I saw her crawl for the first time. Adam was sitting in his high chair and dropped his yellow school bus. She crawled to it in two seconds flat. I've only seen her crawl once since, once again when Adam was in his chair and she wanted to get her hands on his Elmo plane.

But don't let her small statue fool you...Miss Abigail LOVES food. She started watching us eat by the time she was four months and before she turned 5 months, I decided to give her some baby cereal. She wouldn't take a bottle still (Still can't, now she gnaws on it like it's food), I needed to get her some other source of food besides ME!! I put her in her Bumbo on July 19 and look at how she WANTS Adam's breakfast. So I made her some rice cereal. She loved it and ate it up so easy! Adam didn't get food until 61/2 months and he hated rice cereal (still does). She was soooo happy by the time she was done...I love this picture! A couple of weeks later, on August 1, she was an old pro. Easily distracted by Adam playing next to her, it can be hard to feed her in her Bumbo when she is always turning her body to see her big brother! But she enjoys EVERY bite, sometimes complaining when I don't feed her fast enough! She watches everything we eat, trying to grab the cookie my mom handed Adam this morning. Her stomach is still sensitive, so I usually stick to cereals and the "pale" baby foods, though my mom gave her some apple crisp this morning. She handled prunes OK this week, but carrots and squash are still a little hard for her to digest. But she has three meals a day...and hates to be stuck nursing. Adam got the same way around this age...not wanted to be tied down to it. She can't get the bottle thing, so today I tried a sippy cup again....we'll see!

  2. Hey...we like real food too. We want to kick back and relax until we want something and then we grab it before you know it. She is just like an adult female.
