In January, I replaced this toy box I bought Adam when he was baby. As you can can see, the cardboard sides had collapsed due to the collective encounters of my kids....but mostly Abbey who can't stop herself from climbing on anything. I remember ordering this, paying too much probably, excited to set up a little toy box for my new baby. It sat in the dining room because in his old room (Abbey's room), there was no space. When he was bigger, he'd pull himself on it and try to get things. When he started to walk, he'd take things out, scatter them about and run around. (This was back when his toys fit in here...can you imagine????) I replaced it with a standard cherry one...that has a back trim piece Abbey has torn off twice (don't mess with this girl she is strong). It's cute and it's sturdy other than that. I folded this up and stuck it in the back room, knowing I needed some time before I tossed it. I am so sentimental about anything that has belonged to them, but especially since this has his name on it. I can throw out most anything and love to de-clutter...but I struggle with their stuff. I have gotten rid of several bags of stuff in the last few months, forcing myself to go through the room of stuff I have upstairs just of their belongings. Yeah, I know.
A few weeks ago, I pulled it out to toss. Todd told me not to. He is going to find a way to fix it. Nice to know that I'm not the only sappy one around :)

You need to find someone you like who has or is having a little kid. It is easier to pass along stuff to people than to throw it away.
ReplyDeleteI will name my baby Adam and make it easy for you :-)
ReplyDeleteYou could save the box and keep it as his "Keepsake box". Put school awards in it, class pictures, etc. I have a giant bin in my parents basement full of stuff from pre-school that my mom apparently saved!
