Last Weekend

Each weekend, we try and do something together.  Todd works until mid-afternoon on Saturday, but he makes a point of us doing things as a family, which I really appreciate.  This past weekend, we spent Saturday night at dinner with Todd's brother and sister-in-law. Uncle Chuckie and Aunt Missie have made an effort to do stuff with us from the start, which I always appreciated.  Though almost the same age  as my Mom :), I really enjoy their company and they really seem interested in the kids.  We went to Vona's on Missie's request.  We had all gone their a few weeks earlier and the food had been really good. This time, the service was slow and the food decent, but the kids got really restless.  My kids have an hour and twenty minute expiration on behaving in resturants.  Always.  I'm not kidding.  Adam thumbed through his latest garbage truck magazine and played with his bulldozer and "dumpster" truck while Abbey obsessed with her mini-books and her purse.

And did I mention as he was devouring his bread, Adam was making the letters "C" and "O" and the number 1?  Kid is smart.  Now if he'd just use a toilet.....

The next morning, we decided to go to breakfast, too.  Something we used to do every week with Adam. Wade's looked packed and Dahl's jammed packed, so we hit the road to Denny's.  The kids were a bit restless, I think because they had had to sit still the night before, but the service was quick and the food good.  Adam asked for a high chair and we were only happy to give it to him since he wasn't sitting in his chair.  He loved his french toast and Abbey went for her pancakes, passing on the eggs after a bite and putting her bacon on my plate.  Ah, my girl always knows exactly what she wants.

Not an exciting report, I suppose.  But I think that's the point.  I want to remember these moments, too, not just the holidays.

  1. Even a morning breakfast is more meaningful with a family.
