Ellie's first Thanksgiving... She's wearing the shirt Adam wore on his! Tammy got it for him. He was a few weeks old and she was six months! Through on the pink flower to make her more girly... And because Abbey wore it as a baby. Yeah, I'm sentimental.
My favorite effort of trying to get all three that day.
Poor Ellie! She turned on Adam pretty quickly. Abbey was particularly miserable that day. Turns out she got pretty sick the next day.
I decided to take them outside for a few minutes to burn off energy. Usually, it helps Abbey lighten up.
She looks beautiful, even miserable!
Adam decided to ice skate.
He was doing well... I cut him off after that.
My girl, holding Mommy's hand.
She holds the best hands, gives the best hugs.
Run up and down the sidewalk guys!
Hmmm... OK
BAM! Burst into tears!
I felt really bad for her. That's when I knew she wasn't herself. I told her to go inside and lay down, I'd be right in!
Handsome boy.
Adam wanted to help with everything. He kept squirting the basting juice all over the oven. Sigh.
Adam's excitement is contagious. He's low key and persistent when he's excited and you want to get in on his little joy.
I didn't get to everything I wanted to cook, but I've perfected my turkey! Daddy came home at 2pm, ready to carve.
Adam took this. My photo bug is rubbing off. Turkey was pretty good. Kathy was a little late, but she left a message for us to start and she showed up as we were winding down.
The centerpiece was something Abbey made at school. I love it. I plan to use it for as long as it survives!
After Kathy left, we waited for Uncle Bobby to come for desert. Weather stopped him, but I managed to save him a piece of my homemade pumpkin pie. Ellie so cute. She loves to be messed with now...
And my older kids use ANY opportunity to rough house with Daddy!
Ready for bed.
Abbey cheered up by her Daddy! Running around to juggle cooking and kids is what holidays are at this point. I don't mind... I just want to establish enough tradition for them that they look forward to these days! Adam had informed me all week that Uncle Bobby was to be here as he is family. He also asked me if Todd were Uncle Bobby's father. Ha.

Sometimes low-key holidays where you have time alone as a family are the best ones. You need one of those every once in awhile.
