On Adam's birthday on October 29, there was a class "party" of course. But he shared his birthday with another kid this year, Michael. Adam did fine with it, as I knew he would. But it was pretty mind blowing to realize it was someone else's birthday for him! We were asked to bring in two different things....Michael's Mom had clearly been excited about the prospect of her son's first school party, so I let her bring the cupcakes while I brought in full size Hershey bars. Ellie and I went in at 10:30 and the kids were all set up and ready. Michael was at the other end of the table, but moved to sit next to Adam, which I thought was great. Boy, I just love how little kids soak up being sung to on their birthday! Look how happy my boy is!!
The cupcakes... Adam just ate the frosting off while eating his whole big chocolate bar.
When you tell him to look at the camera and smile, he never actually looks AT it. Once the kids had their treats, it was pretty quiet.
Birthday boys. Miss Ellie just sat in her seat and watched, good as always at school.
That's Toby...Adam's favorite kid at school and just a goof-off and so silly. He's hilarious...looking for cameras to pan to. We went to his birthday party a few weeks ago at Behling's orchard and had a lot of fun. Adam and Toby are not allowed to sit at the same table anymore during class time as they feed off of each other. Pretty sure this kid will be a performer.
Adam got to pick a special toy from Miss Elizabeth's birthday box. He also received a bag of goldfish from the Principal on his way in ("oFISHcially five") and a pencil and certificate from the teacher. Last Friday, he was presented with a bag of stuff from the library and two books in his name. He just loves all the fuss.
His gift...which promptly broke in the car if you can believe it! HA!
Hi baby Ellie! All the adults just fawn all over her at that school. They just love how laid back she is.
I have no pictures as things got wild later, but we picked up Todd at work at 5pm and took him to Clay as he had his birthday party a couple of days before. We went to Pizzeria Uno as he usually just loves their pizza, but since we made the mistake of telling him he got to go to the toy store to pick something out, he was ALL over the place. I can't say as I blame him...it's kind of an exciting concept. The girls did pretty well.
We got over to Toys 'r Us and Adam was emotional from the excitement. He was running all over, but acting funny. Then he said he had to use the potty. He never does, so I knew he really had to go.
And then ...as we were walking to the restroom...he vomited all over the aisle. Like a big trail of puke. I got him into the bathroom, but he was done. Poor kid was apologizing. He seemed OK after that, so we laid him the cart and just took him to his favorite aisle to pick something out as we could not leave there with nothing. He picked out a dinosaur he had been eyeballing in the fliers.
As we were waiting to check out, he started vomiting again. I didn't know what to do. I have never had to handle this. I felt so bad for the clean-up guy. Todd offered to do it, but the guy seem nonplussed. I had to get him out of there, poor kid, and into the fresh air. I sat in the car with him while Todd handled the girls (and Abbey's tantrum that I left, of course). It was a rough parenting moment, for sure. He was OK all the way home, but puked again when we got through the door. We let him stay up and watch cartoons and drink ginger ale, but it seemed to pass. I felt SO bad for him but he seemed OK....he got his birthday trip to the toy story and was enjoying his toys.

Awww...too bad he was a bit sick. But, he recovered enough for the bouncy houses! Love the picture of him smiling so big for the song!
ReplyDeleteAww poor kid, on his birthday! I bet the Toys R Us people are used to that sort of thing though. And he's much more mature about vomiting than I am... haha. (Elizabeth)
