Oswego County Fair/ Saturday, July 2

Terry Potter put the bug in Todd's ear about the county fair a couple weeks ago and he seemed really interested in meeting us there. So on Saturday afternoon, we figured mine as well...not knowing exactly what to expect as our combined exposure to the fair had been a visit I had made ten years ago before it started to take a photo of a flying frying pan contest. Greeted by camo ATV's and John Deere tractors, we knew we were deep in the north. But we just loved that it seemed to be the only place we didn't get charged for entry OR parking. We had to park off in the back, but that's OK, Adam loved the tractor and wagon that gave us a ride in. He was excited when we got out of the car as a matter of fact; he knew something good was coming.

We wandered around looking to meet up with Terry, who was in the heritage building. We walked through the display buildings with his daughter Heather, not a ton to see, but I was intrigued by the photography and table scape contests. We both expected produce or farmer's good. There was a little cutout in the dairy area that I was hoping the kids would want to pose in. Nope. But Abbey started petting the baby pigs so cute!!! Awwww.... love my Daddy. Abbey took her first chance of course to take off when we let her out of the stroller :) We had lunch at the Lacona fire company stand, where Adam started to appear to be longing a bit for the rides. But found it in his heart to eat fries with his sister :) We decided to try the carousel first. I got on with the kids and they both climbed on horses. Adam changed his mind right away and got on the bench seat. After about 30 seconds, Abbey agreed with him. But when it stopped, Adam didn't want to get off. So we got him on a horse and I held on! He loved it!! As the ride went on, he got more and more confidence and was eventually sitting up and holding on and I was just supporting him. It was amazing to see him grow up that much in a moment. Terry's grandson Ethan went on, too and then he got on the car ride. Adam watched him with his face through the bars and shocked me when he got in with him. He was so proud and he stayed in, even without a belt. And it was nice to see the two boys who are only a few months a part do something together. Abbey watched them and wanted to go, too but Adam had seen the train ride next door and he HAD to get on it...so they took their first ride together! Adam looks irritated because he wanted them to go! My pretty girl... They didn't want to get off and so they went again...and Ethan got in the car behind them. Ethan's mom got him to lift his arms up when he went around the bend. This cracks me up because I asked Adam to pose in the bunny and it is SO obvious he is doing JUST for me. Abbey wasn't thrilled either. So there had been no horses in the horse barn earlier, but there were plenty of cows and goats. Abbey suddenly got VERY excited when she saw these goats. She was talking to them in her cute voice and waving her arms. :) The stroller was too big so I sat outside while Daddy took them in the chicken coop. Adam jumped a mile when the rooster crowed and they were both a bit on edge! We got root beer floats on our way out and they were pretty good. Adam was not interested in even trying it but Abbey loved sharing it with her Daddy! It was so hot I was happy to see the tractor pull up and take us back. They loved it all. Then we went off to the Potters....

  1. I absolutely LOVE his face in the bunny hole! It's totally a "I'm gonna do this for you because you're my mother and I love you but I would not have chosen to do this myself" look. AWwwww I miss my boyfriend and my sweet pea!
