I had been building up trick or treating all day and the kids were really excited. Abbey didn't quite get it, but she knew something good was up. They were hyper and running around. So we decided to put their costumes on at 5:30. That's when I realized I had forgotten to do the pumpkin that Adam had gotten at his trip to the pumpkin patch. So, we did a quick crayon face :) By them, Abbey was so worked up, she was yelling at the back door and it took her ten minutes to come down from her Abbey temper and go out the front door with me. As they ran out the door, I took these. I forgot a jacket and ran to the door and asked Todd to get me one. Poor Abbey started to cry. She wanted to GO!
So we started by going to Brenda's across the street. Poor Abbey tried to go into her house and cried when she couldn't figure out what was going on. It was clear she was in a mood and was a little overwhelmed.
Then we headed to Erin's house. She had a special treat for them. Abbey ran into there and across the house and up the stairs. Sigh. Was going to be a long night. I took Abbey's hand as we left and leaned down and tried to explain to her and was as encouraging as possible. By the time we got to the next house, she was calm. She held out her bucket and said thank you when they put candy into it.
As we went around the block, she only yelled once. When an older woman opened her door, something about the house scared her. I know this because she tried to protect Adam from the lady. When we got to the other side of the block, there were quite a few houses and Abbey had relaxed and was having fun. She got the hang of things. Adam couldn't wait to get to this house....! He wanted to look at everything. One decoration scared him, the witch on the left side, so he was done.
Mostly. He kept looking over his shoulder to check it out.
On our way down the block.
Abbey having a good time, laughing and getting excited.
But we rounded the last corner and as she saw our house on the far end, she got upset. She stated yelling when we stopped at the house next door as we ran into Holly and her grandkids. She wasn't happy when Adam went up there to see Teddy, though she eventually went up herself. We rounded the corner and she started running past our door. I got them inside. Abbey was done.
Adam immediately started showing Daddy his candy and was happy to keep going when I asked him. Him and I wondered the neighborhood for a bit, hitting some houses. He LOVED it.
Look how HAPPY he is!!! When he done though, he was done. "Let's GO Home" he said. He wasn't even interested in trick or treating at the houses on the way. He wanted to check out his stash.
They ate way too much candy. Abbey was already in a candy coma when we got back. They made room for pizza though and by bedtime, they were very full and half passed out. It was cute to see Abbey start to get it and how much Adam loved it.
I want pictures of them blown up and sent to me hahahaha omg Why are they so adorable? I'm seriously in love with your kids. I am so glad they have such huge smiles on their faces, Halloween is the best!
ReplyDeleteThey look so much alike in these pictures...it doesn't help that the costumes were similar, but it took me a minute to figure out who is who.
