Breakfast in NYC
On our Friday night walk, I kept my eye out for diners. They are the best places to eat in the city with kids without spending obscene amounts of money. The Theatre Diner was 2 blocks up. Hungry from our misadventure the night before, we got ourselves cleaned up and got there by 9. (Taking these pictures made me realize how much I love my SLR, but dragging it around with the kids was not an option.) Uncle Bobby sucking down his first cup of coffee.
I loved Miss Abbey in front of Marilyn, almost with similar hair. This is the closest shot to my "vision". Abbey was not happy that we went into the diner after only two blocks on her beloved city streets. The horseshoe booth barely kept her corralled.
Adam was a little wild, too, but in a better mood. We got them waflles they weren't interested in....he ate some of Daddy's french toast.
Abbey nibbled on toast. I had shored them up with snacks first thing in the morning. I got french toast, too and it was really good and ordered scrambled eggs with cheese...which came with two slices of cheese on top of the scrambled eggs. My best guess is that the cooks didn't speak English as a first language...and took the order literally. I saw it happen all the time in Northern Virginia (pickles on the side became a sub maker literally putting pickles on the side of the roll). They were good, anyhow.
View of the kitchen behind us. The diner was kind of nice, Bobby thought it was a bit contrived and it was. The food was good, the check was $40 (Would've been $30 at home).
Adam loves his Guncle Bobby! The waitress was Eastern European, I think, and warmed up to us the longer we were there, despite Abbey covering the floor with butter packets and Adam knocking the table over and over, splashing coffee.
We even went back the next day...
