Cottage Drop By With Surfin' Steve

A couple of Sundays ago we drove up to the cottage to see if we could get into the private road and check things out.  And have a good place for Surfin' Steve and Mermaid Mary to go.  Who are they?  These stuffed toys that "travel" with each student in Adam's class.  We had to take a picture of them doing something from our lives.  We also just wanted to be able to get in and make sure everything was OK.  We were able to access the road for the first time since November (we've driven up a couple of times for a drive by).  Nice to see the barn roof survived, though it will need to be replaced.  Nice to walk inside the cottage...we both agree that it feels "homey".
Took Adam to the dock next year and had him pose.  He's pretty much kind of cute.
Decided to try and get a shot with him sitting on our stone wall.  Where's Mermaid Mary?
Here's Todd chatting with our neighbor who retired and lives there year round.  Most people have a beer in their hand when they stop over to say hi.
There's Mermaid Mary..Abbey stole her!  She kind of adopted her for the day.
The kids just love it there.  They were so excited to get out and run around.  Adam ran right for the "Lorax tree".  We also noticed how much Abbey has grown up.  She would come back mostly when she was called.  It's nice to be somewhere we they have some freedom.  Adam was helping Daddy collect sticks for the fire pile and Abbey had to be stopped from eating snow.

Looking forward to opening it up.

  1. They'll really be able to enjoy it soon. Campfires, swims, and all the fixins. I'm actually looking forward to the season at my mom and dad's camp.

  2. Nice to take the kids to see your cottage in the winter. I remember those trips with my family. It was always freezing so we didn't stay long but it was still fun.
