This week I've been inspired to do some projects around the house. Like cleaning and polishing the old stairwell, hand vacuuming the stairs and pull apart the kitchen fan (sitting in pieces on the floor right now...I had to walk away it is REALLY gross. Cooking grease -it serves as our "vent".) I scrubbed the outdoor play yard in our bathtub I borrowed from Erin a year ago and dragged it home. I laughed at myself with the old jokes about neighbors borrowing tools to never return.
I have more mini projects in mind. Partly inspired by the work upstairs, Todd doing some purging at the trailer and planning to take the step of building. I think it's my first step in preparing for the big move to the country we plan on in the next year or two. Purging, getting the house ready as apartments and thinking about the items I'll take with me is kind of my focus. The dressers at the trailer got cleaned up because I want to use them and I needed to make sure there, um, weren't any residents in there. There is a great antique cherry piece I want to use with our bedroom pieces (pictured above...I took that photo a year ago so I could bring it home and decided if it matched my bedroom furniture and it does. I just LOVE it actually) and a 1970's set that is TRULY retro in a cool way that Todd's parents bought that will probably go into the man cave/Orrie room.
Todd tossed the mattresses and the couch that were in there to further keep out unwanted friends. (Now I'm wishing I took before and after pictures for myself. Nuts, right?) And found a nice 1990's porn magazine. That my brother promptly took home. Sigh.
Todd was surprised why I wanted to see it yesterday after some of the cleaning. I think it's because I'm kind of in this moving forward with our next home step and this furniture is a part of it, even though the trailer itself is not. Also, was curious how that back room looked without the bed. And what I found out was that the carpet was pink!

A lot of work, but there will be parts of this process that make you feel great. Before and after pics add a sense of accomplishment and keep you moving. Plus, these projects keep you preoccupied mentally.
ReplyDeleteGood for you for planning ahead and getting a head start in your future moving plans! It'll make things easier in the long run.
