Melissa Day

We planned like two months ago a day for Melissa to come down and hang out. She had asked me if I had been free on Good Friday and I wasn't and she actually offered to take a different day off work for me (Of course, I was kind of free at the last minute, but I had the kids so it wouldn't have been the same. We started the day heading over to the Graduate Studies office on campus to file for graduation in December. We had mistakenly believed we were too lat to do it online, but it didn't matter, we did it the old-fashioned paper way. It was a pretty exciting moment for me. I am more excited than I thought I'd be to complete my degree. Last fall when I told Todd it didn't matter that I had ran out of time, he encouraged me to ask for an extension and I am glad he did. It will be a lot of work, but I know I can handle it and I feel lucky that my spouse is behind me one hundred percent and cares that I do something that is important to me. I am really looking forward to getting the degree I started over 7 years ago. And it's kind of funny Melissa and I are finishing at the same time!

We were meeting Jackie for lunch....Melissa had picked Steamers as she missed eating on the water but it turns out they don't do lunch. I suggested we stop into Residence Life for a quick hi...I am way past feeling weird...but forgot you can't just "stop in". Jackie called to say Steamers was closed and she went over to the Press Box....we made her wait, so I told her I'd pick up lunch. We had a nice time...it had been a VERY long time since the three of us had hung out like that.

It was rainy and cold, but we decided to see if we could find a place for a pedicure. We passed a shady place next to the bookstore and decided to go into the one next to the Bagel Shop. It was nice and clean. We had to wait a bit, but it was really nice. I've had maybe 5 pedicures in my life, but this one was the best. Once I figured out how to turn the butt massaging part of the chair off, that is! I had brought my camera, but the battery was dead of course. Melissa had hers and snapped this picture of us getting "dry" with some sort of radiation. We then paddled back to her car up a couple blocks in these things. Hey why not? I wanted a picture of us so Melissa did this one :) She hung out while the kids took their naps, playing with Abbey until she tired her out and when Adam woke up, we all did a dance party. He was not feeling "Pump the Jam" like we were hahaha! Before she left, she was trying to get a picture of Adam. I tried to get him to look at her. Not working. So I tried to get him to kiss me.... And I got to kiss his lamb instead. SIGH Typical Adam!! I know Melissa loves spending time with my kids and they love her. But it was very nice to hang out with just the two us for a bit. It really was a great day and reminds me of how we always have fun together, even if it's just sitting on the couch! I am so lucky to have Melissa in my life and as she always says I'm stuck with her for life. Right back at you Melissa!
